Thomas Jeffrey Hanks (born July 9th 1956) is an American actor and filmmaker. He is well-known for his dramatic and comedic role and is regarded as an American famous cultural icon. Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was the son of Janet Marylyn, a hospital worker, and Amos Mefford Hanks (an itinerant chef). The family of his mother, initially surnamed "Fraga" was largely Portuguese, while his father had English descent. Tom was born into a "fractured family". He had no acting experience prior to college. This is what helped to launch his career. He went downtown, and was a part of a community stage production. He was then invited by the director of the show to visit Cleveland and then his acting career was born.
